ZIMMERMAN, Justice: Defendant entered a plea of guilty to a charge of second degree murder, a first degree felony, and was sentenced to an indeterminate term of five years to life in the Utah State Prison. The trial court also imposed two consecutive firearms enhancement sentences, one for an additional one year and the other of an additional five years. Defendant appealed, seeking elimination of the second enhancement penalty on the ground that it violated the constitutional prohibition against double jeopardy. We need not reach the constitutional argument because we conclude that the trial court misapplied the sentencing statute.
